The Conference will be divided into two themes (consisting of several sub-divided sessions) :
A) 1155-1170: "Warriors of God and Culture. Thomas Becket and his eruditi".
B) After 1170. "Perpetuating Myth".

The stimulating and unique ambiance of Monte Verità has been chosen to organize a conference with a familiar and scientifically inspiring fragrance.

Scope
This conference aims to bring together an interdisciplinary group of scientists. Our main objectives are to:
- stimulate discussion among different branches of research (Medieval Philosophy, Romance Philology, Medieval Latin Studies)
- present the state of the art through key note and invited lectures

Monte Verità is set amidst the hills overlooking Ascona and Lake Maggiore.

The unique characteristics in this sunny southern part of Switzerland generate an exuberant and evergreen vegetation which creates a mediterranean and particularly reposeful atmosphere.

As for travel and how to get there, Ascona is well connected to international airports of Zurich, Geneva, and Milano.

A Shuttle Bus will connect hotels in Ascona with the Conference Centre.
Accommodation on-site Monte Verita is available for a limited number of attendees and their companions on a first come, first served basis. Additional rooms at hotels in downtown Ascona will be available.

Single CHF 210 per night /single room 95 EUR (about 140 USD)
Single in Double CHF 230 per night/
Double CHF 195 per night/double room 75 EUR (about 100 USD)
Double room, shared bath 55 EUR


Prices include full board and are maximum values, which might drop depending on number of applications. Booking rates per person and per day including breakfast
